Reliant Takes time to Interview the band ISM.

Reliant Please name the band members and what instrument they play.

ISM-Andre Mistier, vocals, guitars, sounds
Leigh Battle, bass guitar, weird noises, vocals
Gerard Toriello, guitar, vocals
Greg Evans, drums

Reliant-How did the band get its name?

ISM-A friend called me and told me he had figured out what our name should be, and so he wrote it on a rock and placed it on the highest plateau point in Central Park in New York City. I went up there, two people were having a picnic on the plateau point, and I reached into the picnic to pick up a small rock that had the word "ism" written in lower-case letters.

Reliant-How would you describe your music style?

ISM- A mix of rock and electronic elements, both raw and danceable, music for the party at the end of the world

Reliant-What have been your major influences?

ISM-The whole cannon of rock (from the Beatles to Jimi Hendrix to Led Zeppelin to Soundgarden), the electronic scenes of the 90s (rave, trip-hop, etc.), and music that has mixed those two elements (Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, Beck, Depeche Mode, the Gorillaz, etc.)

Reliant-Who do you hope to work with in the future?

ISM-I'm interested in working with too many people to name.

Reliant-Where have your enjoyed playing the most and why?

ISM-NYC because it's our hometown, Athens, Greece, because it was just an amazing experience, and both Milwaukee's and Columbus' summerfests, because they treated us so well

Reliant-How long has the band been together?

ISM-About 5 years

Reliant-Who would you like to play with some day?

ISM-Again, too many to list. I would like to play with pretty much every band I like. If you hear any sort of influence of a group on our music, we would probably be interested in playing with them.

Reliant-What does the band enjoy doing in its off time?

ISM-I train and teach martial arts, Gerard works with computers, Greg goes to school, and Leigh currently is getting a gigantic tattoo across half his upper body.

Reliant-What is your favorite song off the LP and why?

ISM-Either Sacred Cows, because of the way it moves, or Urgency, because it is the lyrical centerpiece of the album

Reliant-What does you tour schedule currently look like?
